  • Mr. Gryval stopped by to inform the Commission that the ZBA was asked to consider rehearing Gene Mitchell’s case (Tax Map R2, Lot 17-2).  
  • Mr. Marshall discussed with the Commission his thoughts on how to reorganize the room and files. The room is (1) a public meeting space and needs table space; and (2) an office and materials needs to be locked up.  
  • Action Taken:  The Commission needs to determine a time to meet to cull through all its documents and maps. Some maps should go to the Historical Society.  Schedule a culling session in the very near future.
  • The Commission discussed a letter from Peter Hopkins that suggests the possibility of a wetlands violation on Swamp Road.
  • Action Taken: Carol will call Peter to discuss what has been done so far and what his expectations.
  • The Commission discussed verbal complaints about farming activities in the wetlands buffer along Highway 31 and next to the Ryan Farm development. The Commission has now received two verbal complaints about possible wetlands violations on the Ryan Farm development.
  • Action Taken:  The Commission agreed to met with the owner of the pigs to see the farming activity and discuss the situation.

  • Action Taken: Carol will begin an inquiry and contact the Planning Board about the possibility of a joint site visit to the Ryan Farm development.
  • The Commission has been contacted by the Greenfield Tails Association about the possibility of building a trail on the Koch/Brown lot.
  • Action Taken: The Commission reviewed the deed to determine whether such a trail would be in violation of the easement on that property. Carol will contact the association about possible dates for a site walk.
  • The Commission discussed the landowner on Sunset Lake who needs to obtain an wetlands permit for the work completed in 2008. The Commission has not received any news on progress with the permit, although the landowner’s representative indicated a permit was being developed back in February 2009.
  • Action Taken: The Commission will make an inquiry with DES.
  • The Commission discussed the George Procter Recreation Area. The Sportsman Club is now defunct and someone needs to take it over to monitor and conduct stewardship of the property.
  • Action Taken: Carol will meet with the Board of Selectmen to discuss the situation and whether the Conservation Commission should take over stewardship.
  • The Commission discussed the Blueberry Jamboree scheduled for August 1, 2009.
  • Action Taken: Neal will order 24 blueberry bushes from the Yankee Farmer.
